I don't know much about the history of this place. My husband and I found this fishing pier when we started visiting Galveston a little over 2 years ago. We're not big fishing people, but we enjoyed sitting on the landing above the shop, sipping margaritas, and watching life on the Seawall, especially after dark. The lights of the cars driving by and the buidlings were beautiful. Peolpe walking on the beach after dark were mere shadows. Their sounds were drowned out by the waves crashing against the shore. This was one of my favorite places. Hurricane Ike took the pier in September 2008, leaving only shattered wood. We would love to see this place rebuilt.
